What is Satan’s greatest weapon in his arsenal? Well, I’ll tell you something: it’s what he has used against those in the Old Testament and the New. It’s what he has used against our forefathers and against generations past. Have you guessed what it is? Satan’s had centuries to find our greatest weakness as humans and to perfect his tactics in using this weapon. Still not sure?

Satan’s greatest weapon in the earth today is fear. Now you men might say, But Pastor Mark, I’m not afraid of anything! Well, you may not be afraid of the dark, or of Joe-bully at work. But what about fear of failure, or fear of losing a loved one? Fear is anything that has the ability to cause you to believe that the Word of God won’t work for you; that what Jesus promised in the Word won’t come to pass. Fear, simply put, produces a lack of trust in Jesus.

Fear comes in many different masks: worry, doubt, and care are all forms of fear! The reason for that is they each produce the same thing within you: a lack of trust in God to perform His Word on your behalf. He works to get you worrying about your bills, or to doubt that you have enough faith, or to get you caring to the point of meddling in someone’s affairs instead of praying and believing God for the desired outcome.

Now Satan’s greatest weapon is also his greatest weakness! Fear is nothing more than a threat. It’s not tangible. Getting hit in the face is not fear. It’s the threat of getting your face pounded in that works fear in a person. And Satan is a masterful threat-maker. But did you ever notice when you were at school as a kid that there was always that one guy in your class that the bully’s threats never seemed to bother? So the bully never made a move on him. If Satan cant threaten you, he can’t make you fear. And if he cannot produce fear within you, then he has no contact with you! You’ve just completely blocked him out!

How do you block out fear?

The Word says the weapons we fight with are mighty for the pulling down of strongholds. You may be in a position right now where Satan has worked overtime on you to get you to fear. And now you’re trying to operate under a stronghold that you’ve allowed to make camp in your heart. That’s now way to live!

I remember Satan trying to get me to fear OUT OF THE BLUE one day. He did it by placing images in my mind of wrecking on my motorcycle. He’d make me think of how bad it would be for my family if they were to lose me. And to further the process, he had someone tell me a story of some poor wife with a new child who’s husband died recently in an accident...and HE was a Christian too! I’m telling you, he was REALLY working on me!

Now we battle fear one way and one way only: with our words! These are the mighty, powerful weapons God speaks of giving us in His Word. He told us that life and death are in the power of the tongue...YOUR tongue. The way you pull down Satan’s strongholds is through your words! When Satan comes at me with that fear junk, I go immediately to talking faith by speaking the Word!

“Satan, I take complete and total authority of you and my thoughts and feelings right now in the name of Jesus. You can’t come at me with this stuff anymore!” Then I go to Psalm 91 and quote that!

Try that the next time Satan comes at you with his threats. Speak the Word. Fear has torment, and torment is not reserved for you. No, it’s reserved for Satan! You’re free from torment because you have authority over fear! Then go to telling God, “Lord, Jesus, I trust You, and I love You!” You won’t have any problems with fear that you can’t pull down anymore if you do that!
